A
All-in
Significa apostar todas tus fichas de una sola vez. Puede ser un movimiento arriesgado, pero también estratégico. Por ejemplo, si tienes una mano muy fuerte y quieres que todos los rivales se retiren o igualen, ir all-in puede ser tu mejor opción.
Ante
Una apuesta pequeña que todos los jugadores colocan antes de que comience la mano. Suele usarse en torneos para aumentar la acción y hacer que el bote crezca más rápido.
Apuesta (Bet)
La acción de colocar fichas en el bote. Es el movimiento básico para participar en la mano y medir la reacción de tus oponentes.
B
Bluff (Farol)
Intentar hacer creer a tus rivales que tienes una mano más fuerte de la que realmente tienes. Un buen bluff puede hacer que un rival se retire y tú ganes el bote sin mostrar tus cartas. La clave está en observar el comportamiento de los demás jugadores y no exagerar.
Bote (Pot)
Es la suma de todas las apuestas realizadas durante una mano. Quien gane la jugada final se lleva todo el bote.
Burn card
Carta que se descarta al azar antes de revelar las cartas comunitarias, para evitar trampas en el juego.
C
Call
Igualar la apuesta de otro jugador. Por ejemplo, si alguien apuesta 50 fichas, hacer call significa poner tú también 50 para continuar en la mano.
Cartas comunitarias
Cartas que se colocan boca arriba en la mesa y que todos los jugadores pueden usar para formar su mano.
Check
Pasar el turno sin apostar. Solo se puede hacer si no hay apuestas previas en esa ronda. Es útil para ver qué hacen los demás antes de arriesgar tus fichas.
F
Flop
Las tres primeras cartas comunitarias que se revelan tras la primera ronda de apuestas. Marca el momento donde empieza a formarse la estrategia real de la mano.
Flush (Color)
Cinco cartas del mismo palo, sin necesidad de que sean consecutivas. En el ranking de manos de póker una jugada fuerte que puede ganar a muchas combinaciones, salvo a un full house o escalera de color.
Fold (Retirarse)
Cuando decides abandonar la mano. Puede ser porque tu mano es débil o porque no quieres arriesgar más fichas.
K
Kicker
Carta que desempata cuando dos jugadores tienen la misma combinación. Por ejemplo, si ambos tienen pareja de Ases, gana el que tenga el kicker más alto.
King-high / Ace-high
Términos que se usan cuando tu mejor carta es un Rey o un As y no tienes ninguna combinación.
R
Raise (Subir)
Aumentar la apuesta realizada por otro jugador. Puede usarse para presionar a rivales o proteger una mano fuerte.
Rake
Porcentaje del bote que la casa toma como comisión. Importante conocerlo para calcular tus ganancias netas.
River
La quinta y última carta comunitaria. Suele ser decisiva y marca la última oportunidad de apostar antes del showdown.
S
Set
Un «set» es un trío formado usando una carta oculta y un par en la mesa.
Showdown
Momento en que los jugadores muestran sus cartas tras la última ronda de apuestas para determinar quién gana el bote.
Stack
La cantidad de fichas que un jugador tiene delante. Similar al «bankroll», gestionar tu stack es fundamental para no quedarte sin fichas en los momentos críticos.
T
Tight / Loose
- Jugador tight: juega pocas manos, solo las fuertes.
- Jugador loose: juega muchas manos, más arriesgado.
Reconocer el estilo de tus rivales es fundamental.
Tilt
Estado emocional negativo donde un jugador juega de forma impulsiva o descuidada tras perder varias manos. Mantener la calma es clave.
Trips
«Trips» se refiere a un trío formado con dos cartas de la mesa y una de tu mano. Diferencia sutil, pero estratégica.
Turn
La cuarta carta comunitaria. Marca la penúltima ronda de apuestas y puede cambiar el rumbo de la mano.
